Microneedling

Microneedling

Okay it's FINALLY here... I know i've promised this for so long but life had caught up with me and prevented me from putting the time I wanted into this post.

So I did it, I bought a personal micro-needle roller off Amazon.  Before I did, I did a lot of research.  I real blogs, reviews, testimonials, I read everything! The good, the bad and the ugly.  And after reading about how damaging some people believe microneedling is, I decided that I was going to try for myself.  That's my general opinion on a lot of things though, I want to try it before I write it off, amirite?!

Let's start off with WHAT IT IS.  Microneedling is a process where you roll a small needles between 0.5-2.5 mm on your skin.  What this does is injure your skin. You skin treats these small injuries the same as it would a large injury.  It sends fibroblasts the the affected area to produce more collagen.

WHY do you want more collagen? As we age, our bodies slows down the production of collagen, and skin lacking collagen produce wrinkles. Literally nobody wants that.  So essentially what we're doing while microneedling is tricking our skin to repair. Microneedling helps with reducing wrinkles, redness and acne scars.

How it works: I usually use my microneedle roller once a week on the day I won't be wearing makeup or at least I lay off the makeup for a few hours.  ALWAYS start with a clean face, you don't want to be rolling dirt deeper into your skin. After my face is all clean, I run my roller under water and then spray it with rubbing alcohol. I always clean and sanitize the tool before and after use.  You can roll all over your face but I only do my forehead, my cheeks and around my lips.

After I finish rolling all of my problem areas I apply hyaluronic acid all over my face.  As we age, our skin loses the ability to retain moisture, this results in loss of firmness and plumpness. Hyaluronic acid replenishes moisture and revitalizes skin for younger, softer, smoother skin. I use the Glossier Super Bounce Hyaluronic acid and I finish with the Mario Badescu Facial spray to provide a cooling boost of hydration.

MIcroneedling is not for everyone but I have been using mine for about 3 months now and have found that it has significantly reduced the red areas of my face and my acne scars have faded to the point where I barely notice them. Before this, there were no changes to my redness or acne scars. I also STILL can raise my eyebrows with not one forehead wrinkle in sight #winning. It is the most effective beauty tool I've used and I love it!

If you want to give it a try, I suggest you do your research, speak to your dermatologist and figure out what products work for you skin. Happy rolling :)
